“Owning your story is the bravest thing you’ll ever do” — Brene Brown

Malorie Melson. Your Doula.

  • Malorie here! I am a loving spouse and mother to two children. More importantly, I am a born caregiver.

As a kid, I was always fascinated by the birth experience. In my 20s I was enlightened to the vast amount of options surrounding the birth experience and a seed was planted that would eventually grow into a deep understanding and belief in the birthing process.

I have personally experienced two VASTLY different births. My first, a picture perfect, unmedicated birth center delivery followed by a high intervention hospital birth ultimately ending in an emergency abdominal birth.

BOTH of my experiences have value. Both of them have shaped me. Because of my full-rounded personal experience, nurturing demeanor, and deep personal interest in all things reproductive health, I’ll be able to serve you with whatever you’ll need to achieve YOUR ideal birth.

Training to become a birth worker and supporting pregnancy, birth and postpartum is such a gift.

  • I believe every birthing person should feel safe and informed. I believe that knowledge is a powerful tool in assisting with you and your family’s goals for birth and postpartum.

Every way of birthing is “right” if consent is given and the birthing person feels informed and in control. Well, as much as we can be! This may come as a shocker but birth is unpredictable!

There is a lot of fear surrounding the beautiful and physiological process of birth and I am committed to help any birthing person navigate that fear.

Lastly, I believe in the role of a caregiver. Compassion and empathy are at the core of my work. I will be a listener, a challenger, a cheerleader. A caregiver is a chameleon able to adapt to the needs of the person for which they caring.

  • I am trained as a Maternal Support Practitioner through Bebo Mia.

I have completed Childbirth Educator Training.

I have a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas.

I am infant, child and adult CPR certified.

Testimonial

“Malorie was wonderful to have around. She quickly felt like a friend I had known for years and was very easy to talk to. She was not overbearing, but would still check in both before and after the birth of my son to let me know she was there for any support I needed. When I did go into labor my husband unfortunately was not feeling well and Malorie was right there to provide him items he needed as well as take over to support me while he got some rest. I delayed my epidural as long as I could and Malroie was very helpful with assisting and suggesting different positions to help alleviate pain and get my mind on other things. When my epidural did not go so well she continued to remind me to breathe and helped me to remain relaxed when I just wanted things to be over. Even though this was my second kid, this birth was very different, and I don't know if it would have gone the way it did without her. I would recommend Malorie to anyone looking for some extra support.”
